2022.50 : Christmas Song

Jackson Hole, Wyoming U.S.A Circa 2022

I’m not dreaming of a white Christmas
All I’m dreaming of the whole day long
Is a peaceful world

Merry Christmas, and Happy New Year
To those of you who live in fear

And let us hope that very soon
The peace you seek will then resume

— Gilbert O'Sullivan

The holiday season can be a time of great joy, but it can also be a time of great sadness for those who have experienced loss. As we gather with loved ones this holiday season, it’s natural to think about those who are no longer with us and the memories we shared with them.

“To those of you who live in fear. And let us hope that very soon, the peace you seek will then resume.”

This week’s photo of the broken down Lazy-Boy chair in sharp contrast to ‘paradigm’ interior design is a reminder of the ways in which grief can disrupt our sense of comfort and stability. It can be hard to imagine moving forward when we are grieving, but we can find hope in the possibility of rebuilding and finding new ways to create joy and meaning in our lives.

While grief may disrupt the interior design of our lives, by remembering and honoring those who have passed, we can find strength and inspiration in the memories and lessons they left behind. These can help us to create a new interior design for our lives that is grounded in love and resilience.

As we support one another through this difficult time, let’s also remember to hold onto hope and offer it to those who may be struggling. Whether through a phone call, a card, or a small gesture of kindness, we can all make a difference in the lives of those around us.

To those who are grieving this holiday season, we see you and we are with you. Wishing you and yours strength and comfort during this difficult time.

And now … know the photograph.
