2020.41 : What Is It In Itself?

TAFT, CALIFORNIA, USA. CIRCA 2020

Of each particular thing ask:
What is it in itself?
What is its nature?

— Marcus Aurelius

What we want things to be. What we need them to be. Never changes what they are at their essence. It’s a waste of time, effort, energy, and emotion to try. Even if a small victory, it never lasts. I trust all people to be true to their self-interests. This isn’t a bitter way of thinking, it’s realistic. It falls upon me to align my self-interests with others’ self interests that are compatible. Even then, respecting that synced state will be for a limited time.
